First, I am so glad to have finally updated my blog design. I want to make my own banner but just can't figure out how to center it and put my name in the center of the banner. I guess I'll figure it out. This design is from Simply Chic Blog Backgrounds...Very nice work.

Next, I have newer pics of my little grand-niece...these are from Day 2...Much better pics!!

Thanks for stopping my. I'll have to upload some of my latest layouts tomorrow.

CONGRATULATIONS

Meet Eliana Miriam. Born July 9 and weighing in at 5 lbs, 12 ounces.

Everyone is so glad she's her. Here she is posing with my sister. What's really exciting is that this is my sister's first little girl. She's had 4 boys and one grandson. Now, she has a granddaughter!

Even right now, I think she looks just like her big brother, Nathaniel (2 yrs).

This is the card I made for them.

TWO NEWS - GREAT NEWS

First of all, here comes a new Local Scrapbook Store in Louisville, KY! Yep, Tracy and her good friend, Kimber are partnering up to open the only LSS here in town. Up until now all we have are the chains with the same-old-stuff. Their selling point is carrying merchandise that no one else in town sells!! Can't wait! Love the name, too...Scrap 'N Crap! Their website is up and running so you can find out more...just click on the link. They are also on Facebook, My Space & Twitter!

Next, I want to boast about my romantic hubby! June 22 was our 29th wedding anniversary. Well, if you've been reading, I was in Philly helping Steph recover from being hit by a drunk driver! I knew he had a gift for me but I left town a few days before our anniversary. So, when I got back, this is what I opened! It was hard to photograph because of glare on the front...but it looks perfect!

These are the words to the song "Longer" by Dan Fogelberg. This is "our song" from our wedding...we had our first dance to it. It's very special to both of us. The words are just so beautiful!!

Longer than thereve been fishes in the ocean

Higher than any bird ever flew
Longer than thereve been stars up in the heavens
Ive been in love with you.

Stronger than any mountain cathedral
Truer than any tree ever grew
Deeper than any forest primeval
I am in love with you.

Ill bring fires in the wintersAlign Center
Youll send showers in the springs
Well fly through the falls and summers
With love on our wings.

Through the years as the fire starts to mellow
Burning lines in the book of our lives
Though the binding cracks and the pages start to yellow
Ill be in love with you.

Longer than thereve been fishes in the ocean
Higher than any bird ever flew
Longer than thereve been stars up in the heavens
Ive been in love with you
I am in love with you..

WINK to VINK!

Just love this lady and her scrapping style. I have been following Chimeme/Vink's scrapping ever since I joined scrapinstyletv.com. Well, even though she lives far away from the States, in the Netherlands, she is doing a give-away on her blog, The Art of a Dutch Vink.

This give away is very special as it would feel like channeling her talents and feeling like she was here in Kentucky with me. Great art!!

SUMMER WALK

Steph is doing only marginally better. The swelling on her thigh and knee have gone down and the bruises are turning yellow. But, she is going stir crazy and she has probably been doing too much. She is still getting headaches from the concussion.

On a lighter side, Steph wanted to go on a very short walk this afternoon, so walk we did. Of course, I took my camera and found these neat photo ops right on her street!

Steph has a follow up doctor appointment tomorrow afternoon so, hopefully, we'll get some better news.

Thanks for stopping by!

WHEN LIFE HANDS YOU LEMONS....or...SCRAPPING UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES

I finally broke down and went to Michael's yestereday for a few basic supplies I may be here for another 4-5 days and I really needed something to do. The hardest part was that the only pics I had were what was already on my camera...mostly accident related. So, since I didn't get to go to my scrapping weekend, I got to play along with some challenges on SIS.

This layout was for a Free Shopping Challenge. You "buy" 3 items off of a list of 10 and then you have to use them on a layout. I "bought" staples, ink and doodling. All of the papers for these layouts come from a K & Company pad called "Day Dreams". Cute stuff!

This was another challenge where you had to use small photos, paint & cardboard. Luckily, I had thought about saving some of the cardboard off of the box one of the flower arrangements came in and got to use it here. I also saved part of the clear plastic and the company logo pick from the edible arrangement. The letters were drawn and cut out of a graph-like paper from the pad I bought and then gone over with a in black sharpie.

This was a fun but very challenging project. The challenge was to take a magazine ad and insert your photo over someone's face and then embellish the ad. Again, the only pics I had were the ones on my camera and the only pic of Steph I had were of her (mockingly) sad face. The only magazines I had to chose from were bicycling magazines. I used some plastic bag closure tabs that I had saved and created my own letters from card stock/paint.

Thanks for all the sweet comments and well wishes for Steph!! She is progressing. Didn't have a headache yesterday but still felt a bit clouded. Still can't walk completely normally but much of the swelling has gone down.

Thanks for stopping by.

TIME TO GO SHOPPING!

What time is it when a car totals your bike? Why, go shopping, of course!

We finally got the bike back this morning. Definitely totaled!! This kinda brings it all back again! Steph might be able to save a component or two but...get a load of that wheel!!!

Steph had a triathlon race this weekend which she is missing, of course, and there's one she was going to do in July as well. She is a bit bummed out about not being able to train and race! There may still be hope for a race in August but it is doubtful as she probably has to make up work time then.

Thanks for all the well wishes.

THIS IS THE WORST OF IT!

Stephanie is feeling better...getting up and down the stairs a bit better. She can walk up them with both legs but down is still one step at a time. Her right leg has this massive lumpy bruise and the left knee is swollen and scraped. The left knee is the one she had all her surgeries on in the past so she's quite worried about this too. We'll be looking for an orthopedist tomorrow. So far, she still can't drive and she is still getting headaches from the concussion.

We got the police report but there wasn't much info on there that we could use right now. We have to wait till Wed evening to contact the officer as that's when he's on duty. Her bike is being held as evidence and, so far, they won't even let her see it to see if anything is salvageable. Of course, I want to get a pic of it too! :0)

That's it for the update. I'll be her in Philly till she can drive, probably. Don't know how long that will be.

Thanks for stopping by.

HELMETS SAVE LIVES!!!!!!!!

Right now I am sitting in my daughter's living room in Philly, on her lap top while she is napping on the couch with ice on her legs.

On Friday, Steph was riding her bike home and was crossing an intersection - with the light - and a big white old white caddy plowed into her as it was trying to turn. There were lots of witnesses and they saw the driver try to get away. Several people reported the accident and the cops caught the driver getting away. He then tried to deny that he was in any way involved in this accident.

On her way to the hospital she heard the EMS people talk about femur fractures but in the end, nothing was broken and no major internal injuries!!!

Her bike helmet is cracked in several places and they had to cut away all of her costly biking clothes and her bike...what's left of it...is being held by the police for evidence. All the cracks in her helmet could have been her head...bouncing on the pavement. I truly believe that her helmet saved her life or saved her from brain injury.

The moral to this story...WEAR A HELMET!!! They are the IN thing...all the cool people are wearing them!!

OK...off my soapbox for now. But I will try to get the word out any way I can and I am even encouraging my daughter to campaign for helmets on her campus!!

:0)
Thanks for bearing with me...this is very emotional.

PHOTO SWAP

Next weekend I will be in Franklin, Tennessee for a fantastic Scrapbooking weekend called Scrap IN Style Live - SISiversary '09. There's a ton of things to do to get ready and one of those is this Photo Swap.

I swapped pics with another member and then we scrap their photo(s). Bridget sent me 2 pics of her cats and this is what I've done with them. I've left some room so she can do her own journaling. This is what she wrote of her little felines:

Yeah, they're my favorite subjects. The first picture is of Kirby and Puddy. Puddy is the big brother, and little sister Kirby just loves him so much. The second one is of Ollie. He had been sleeping with my dad's socks, and I snapped the pic in mid-yawn. It's too funny!

I usually post my layouts on SIS but I haven't posted these so Bridget won't see them before our exchange.

Thanks for looking!
