UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Out with the old, green Formica counter tops....
Remove all of the old, plain white 4 x 4 ceramic tile back spash....
Bring on the granite (Lapidus Gold) (this color is better than the next photo)

Next step is picking out the stone tiles for the new back splash.

Scrapping Away!!

In between NYC layouts, I've been doing some other things. These are my latest:

My Dad from 1943. The challenge from Scrapping Out Loud was to use distressing on your layout.

This was a challenge from Category Stories to go back in time to the 1980's and scrap something special about those years. This is the story about the COW...how Frank and I spent the night in E-town , KY after we had just been married and I saw a cow. (Remember I'm a NYC kid). I had him hop the fence and get a picture or two. Then he saw one with sharp horns and he took off and got out in 1 piece!

It's also using a sketch from Gretchen from SISiversary.

This is a scraplift...I got my inspiration from one of the gals on SIS. Here's Steph and all of her formal high school basketball pics.

This was a challenge from one of the newest challenge blogs: These Are a Few of My Favorite Things. The first challenge was to focus on your favorite color(s)

A challenge from Kiddie Lit: using The Velveteen Rabbit as inspiration. This is my threadbare, but wonderful, Clifford dog, that I've had since college.

(7/27) Just found out that this layout won the challenge!! Whoo Hoo!! Thanks ladies!

OLW Challenge - using the word "Why".

As always, Thanks for Looking!

Been Busy!

I'm still working on my NYC Vacation album. I have to stop and do other topics at times but I'm still plugging along.

Frank didn't want me to buy this posed photo but I liked it so...I did anyway!

Little Italy was full of great bargains and great food!

This is a double layout made with a sketch layout from SISiversary (that I didn't attend but received the kit anyway) There was originally a sun in the lower left corner...I turned it into the Lady's crown.

Green Street...SoHo...this is where my father's first handbag factory was and some of my earliest memories are from this factory. We don't know what the address was but it was somewhere on this street.

This was a great sculpture to find in NY - I was surprised it was there.

What a fabulous museum to go to...They showed an un-restored apt, and then 2 other apartments restored to the dates in which the depicted family lived. Fascinating history!

This is the church right next to Ground Zero where many people took cover

Some of my favorite childhood memories grew here...My dad and I went here a lot.

9/11 Memorial wall - across the street from Ground Zero

10 House - The First Responders and their own memorial
Thanks for stopping by & looking at my work.

UPDATING!!

First, I am so glad to have finally updated my blog design. I want to make my own banner but just can't figure out how to center it and put my name in the center of the banner. I guess I'll figure it out. This design is from Simply Chic Blog Backgrounds...Very nice work.

Next, I have newer pics of my little grand-niece...these are from Day 2...Much better pics!!

Thanks for stopping my. I'll have to upload some of my latest layouts tomorrow.

CONGRATULATIONS

Meet Eliana Miriam. Born July 9 and weighing in at 5 lbs, 12 ounces.

Everyone is so glad she's her. Here she is posing with my sister. What's really exciting is that this is my sister's first little girl. She's had 4 boys and one grandson. Now, she has a granddaughter!

Even right now, I think she looks just like her big brother, Nathaniel (2 yrs).

This is the card I made for them.

TWO NEWS - GREAT NEWS

First of all, here comes a new Local Scrapbook Store in Louisville, KY! Yep, Tracy and her good friend, Kimber are partnering up to open the only LSS here in town. Up until now all we have are the chains with the same-old-stuff. Their selling point is carrying merchandise that no one else in town sells!! Can't wait! Love the name, too...Scrap 'N Crap! Their website is up and running so you can find out more...just click on the link. They are also on Facebook, My Space & Twitter!

Next, I want to boast about my romantic hubby! June 22 was our 29th wedding anniversary. Well, if you've been reading, I was in Philly helping Steph recover from being hit by a drunk driver! I knew he had a gift for me but I left town a few days before our anniversary. So, when I got back, this is what I opened! It was hard to photograph because of glare on the front...but it looks perfect!

These are the words to the song "Longer" by Dan Fogelberg. This is "our song" from our wedding...we had our first dance to it. It's very special to both of us. The words are just so beautiful!!

Longer than thereve been fishes in the ocean

Higher than any bird ever flew
Longer than thereve been stars up in the heavens
Ive been in love with you.

Stronger than any mountain cathedral
Truer than any tree ever grew
Deeper than any forest primeval
I am in love with you.

Ill bring fires in the wintersAlign Center
Youll send showers in the springs
Well fly through the falls and summers
With love on our wings.

Through the years as the fire starts to mellow
Burning lines in the book of our lives
Though the binding cracks and the pages start to yellow
Ill be in love with you.

Longer than thereve been fishes in the ocean
Higher than any bird ever flew
Longer than thereve been stars up in the heavens
Ive been in love with you
I am in love with you..

WINK to VINK!

Just love this lady and her scrapping style. I have been following Chimeme/Vink's scrapping ever since I joined scrapinstyletv.com. Well, even though she lives far away from the States, in the Netherlands, she is doing a give-away on her blog, The Art of a Dutch Vink.

This give away is very special as it would feel like channeling her talents and feeling like she was here in Kentucky with me. Great art!!

Thanks for stopping by. More later.
