MMMMMM.....SMELLS YUMMY

We got about 4 inches of snow on our street - fluffy stuff, not the hard frozen stuff. You could push the shovel off with one hand. Or...do what my neighbor did and use a push broom!

Time to bake today! Didn't want to go out anyway. Frank and I had planned ahead and had everything we needed to bake these yummy ginger snap sandwich cookies!!

The filling is made with cream cheese , powdered sugar and a little orange juice...sweet!

And, of course, I had to take Adam Luther out to play in the snow. It was pretty deep for him!

SO, WHAT'S NEW??

What's new is that I've begun the job hunting process. I'm looking for a part time job and have already filled out several applications to local retail stores. What's with these on-line applications? I like handing my application in by hand so much better!!

So, in the mean time, I'm trying to keep busy with making new layouts.

This is my husband, Frank. Can't you see the same face?? Over the winter break, Steph decided to scan boxes and boxes of slides into the computer. THANK YOU, Steph!! Some are not in very good condition but others are perfect. I was able to do a little editing on some.

These next 2 are birthday cards that I made for 2 January birthdays.

OK, so, a year ago I found some wrestling papers & embellishments at the CKC (Creating Keepsakes Convention) here in Louisville. I bought them for my sister because her son, David, was a star on his high school team. Well, she said she didn't have time so I took them with the photos and have finally gotten around to scrapping them. These next 2 layouts are the results.

Back in 2008, Steph, my sister and I went on a cruise. I did a journal of the adventure but I never really scrapped layouts. These are the first two. We were at Half Moon Cay near the Bahamas (I think) and Micky just had the best time....relaxing.
This one was on a boat riding to a stingray excursion.

This is my latest layout for These Are a Few of My Favorite Things Challenge Blog. The challenge was to scrap your favorite fragrance.

I skipped 2008 but finally got around to doing a year-in-review layout for 2009.

These Are a Few of My Favorite Layouts

One of my favorite challenge blogs, These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things, has a different kind of challenge this month. We are to chose the one favorite layout that we did in 2009. I've done quite a lot of layouts but when I reviewed all of them, I came up with this one. It was originally done for Scrap The Music but I'm submitting it for January's TTAFOMFT challenge.

It hits home. I was being brutally honest with myself (probably could have been even more honest, though).
I was also proud of the techniques I used in this layout.

The journaling reads:

"I am overweight. Have been for a very long time. Can't blame it on babies any longer. They are 24 and 25 years old.

I am fat. The doctor said I was obese. Even that didn't sink in.

I see it when I see myself in photos. I don't see it day to day. I definitely aint feeling what I see.

That's the problem. If I can just feel fat, then maybe I'd be able to stick with the program and lose this *!#?@ fat!"

-------------------------------------------------------
On another note, This next layout was done for the last TAAFOMFT challenge..."your favorite car". I really loved doing this one and actually was one of the challenge winners.
Journaling reads:

"All I want to do is to drive one...just once. I've been in love with vintage 'Vettes for many years. Don't think I want to own one; just take it for a test drive. This is definitely on my bucket list!"

As always, thanks for stopping by!

THE DETAILS

Ok...some time has gone by and I'm outwardly more calm. I can explain a little.

Scrap~N~Crap, my daughter's scrapbooking store, is now closed. It opened on September 11th, 2009 and closed December 22 (or something like that).

We knew we wouldn't have rent money past December but then the business partner turned off the cash register software (Checkout) so we couldn't have stayed open till Christmas anyway. We has planned on closing Christmas Eve. So, a couple of extra days didn't really matter. We were only getting a couple of people in each day for the past several weeks. It was costing more in utilities to keep the store open than we took in.

We are all sad and a good friendship has gone up in smoke. There is tons of blame being tossed back and forth and no one is happy. The thing is, if things were handled differently, it could have been a great store and we just might have made it.

So, now we have to deal with lawyers and bankruptcy and bitterness.

Oh well! A new year means a new beginning anyway.

Thanks for listening.

NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS???

Well, not always and not in this case. I can't go into details at the moment but this December will go down in the books as the most upsetting month of the year. We've gone from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows in 4 short (or long) months.

I am around and will be around. Rumor has it that I might have to find a part time job come the new year...good luck to me! Not many jobs around and probably not many that I will am qualified for. I don't mind having an outside job but I hope it's at least one that I can enjoy.

That's all for now. Thanks for stopping by.

LATEST LAYOUTS

I seem to be getting more done at the store than at home. Here are my latest layouts. Actually, I revised the one of my parents...I like it much better now that I put the crochet doily on the layout.

this is the first version

this is the revised and final result. Just loved the feel of this Kaiser paper with this photo.

these pics of Frank and me were taken in a photo booth at a wedding we went to this year. We got kinda silly with it. But Frank made me "promise" not to show them to anyone. So, of course I had to scrap them! :0)

This is Nathan, my sister's grandson. All I can say is that she is one brave grandma!

Then, of course I had to add another layout of Tracy to the album I'm doing for her. These pics were taken on her 1st birthday - after the cake. I had never used Bam Pop paper before but the jelly fist just fit here. Backed it up with Crate Paper die cut and a Glitz grid.

BLANK JOURNAL BOOKS

I've been just a little busy lately. The store has taken up quite a bit of my free time, but I still found time to create some new blank journals. You can find them on my Etsy site: embellishmeagain.etsy.com. They're all very reasonable at $9.99 each. Complete descriptions are on Etsy. New books are on their way. Each one is one of a kind! Hope you stop by!

Thanks!

WORK BENEFITS

One of the benefits of working at Scrap~N~Crap is that I am able to do a little scrapping in between customers! I didn't do these in 1 day...several weeks.
