SCRAP, SCRAP, ONE AND ALL!

When the bankruptcy trustee released all of our assets we knew we had to have the biggest yard sale ever! Well, we did that today. At one point, you couldn't fit any more people inside our 2 car garage.
There were rows of tables making 4 walkways...and just tons of women!
The sale was a huge success and I'd like to thank a few key people. Karen helped me get ready and came early this morning and spent the whole day working a yard sale that was not hers. AND she brought most of the tables. Tracy, who spent the past few weeks helping to sort, bag and price the merchandise from her scrapbook store. Barb, loaned us a great ladder and a collapse-able canopy to help us stay out of the sun (never got it set up...we couldn't figure it out). All of the friends and acquaintances who passed the word around and also came back for seconds and thirds.

It was exhausting. We're glad it's over. And, yes, there is still some merchandise left. All in all, it was a HUGE success!

Thanks for stopping by.

THE DETAILS

Ok...some time has gone by and I'm outwardly more calm. I can explain a little.

Scrap~N~Crap, my daughter's scrapbooking store, is now closed. It opened on September 11th, 2009 and closed December 22 (or something like that).

We knew we wouldn't have rent money past December but then the business partner turned off the cash register software (Checkout) so we couldn't have stayed open till Christmas anyway. We has planned on closing Christmas Eve. So, a couple of extra days didn't really matter. We were only getting a couple of people in each day for the past several weeks. It was costing more in utilities to keep the store open than we took in.

We are all sad and a good friendship has gone up in smoke. There is tons of blame being tossed back and forth and no one is happy. The thing is, if things were handled differently, it could have been a great store and we just might have made it.

So, now we have to deal with lawyers and bankruptcy and bitterness.

Oh well! A new year means a new beginning anyway.

Thanks for listening.

WORK BENEFITS

One of the benefits of working at Scrap~N~Crap is that I am able to do a little scrapping in between customers! I didn't do these in 1 day...several weeks.

HALLMARK...EAT YOUR HEART OUT!

The second Wednesday in the month can only mean one thing...Red Hots Night! This month was my turn to arrange the evening. I decided to make good use of the crop room at Tracy's store, Scrap~N~Crap.

November is a busy month for Red Hots with 3 birthdays...alas one birthday girl was MIA...Missed you, Sharon.
I planned an evening of holiday card making since the holiday season was upon us. Everyone had lots of great, original ideas. I'm glad they didn't just copy one of the examples, but were just inspired by them...just what I planned!

The final results! What a creative bunch we are.

Thanks, ladies, for a fun and successful evening!

Is full of such fun supplies today!

Looking forward to more inventory coming in this week! I had fun working in the store this weekend. From here on in I am on an on-call basis. But, I'm sure I'll still be around.

WE DID IT!!!

Their first day was a huge success! There were people waiting outside before the doors opened!! Fantastic!

Last night Tracy went and bought balloons (she hates balloons!)...they just filled her car.

The store sign hasn't come in yet so Kimber decorated the front of the store.

Some views of the inside of the store during some of the slower times. There was constant traffic in the store all day!

Tomorrow's another day and we think it will be even busier.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two big "yays"!! First...I finally got my first hummingbird at my feeder today. At least it's the first that I've seen. It's a female so the colors aren't so pretty but she's come a few more times since.
Next comes Scrap~N~Crap...the store itself. In the pics are Tracy & bf John.

These are pics of the inside. The first is the main room.

More of the main room seeing the office in the corner

This is the Community Room where crops, workshops and activities will take place.

From the back of the store looking to the front door

This is one of the walls that was painted...I think it needs another coat! :0)
